In March 1999, I took a brief sabbatical from the HBO Series 'Oz' to accompany the show's creators, Tom Fontana & Barry Levinson on a trip to Havana, Cuba. The purpose of the trip was to document the history-making game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Cuban National Team. I ordered a box of 16mm film in every flavor, packed an Aaton and a Bolex, and spent nearly every minute of the 7 day trip shooting. The hope was to make a full-length documentary, but somehow that didn't happen. At least I was able to cut this promo for ESPN before the footage disappeared...
